Matthew Ryan, DDS
Matthew Ryan, DDS, founded his Sacramento-based dental practice in 2009. Prior to moving to northern California in 2008, he spent four years practicing general dentistry in Manhattan.
Dr. Ryan is a 2003 graduate of the School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also completed a one-year residency at New York Methodist Hospital, a Brooklyn teaching hospital and affiliate of the Weill Cornell Medical College.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ryan has invested in continuing education and training at a level that substantially exceeds the requirements for practicing dentists. He regularly trains at the prestigious Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education to expand his dental knowledge and learn about the latest innovations in patient care.
A long-time member of the American Dental Association, Dr. Ryan joined the California Dental Association and the Sacramento District Dental Society in 2008. He has volunteered hundreds of hours of community-service dentistry across the United States and in Central America.
Prior to his career in dentistry, Dr. Ryan lived on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., where he worked for a U.S. senator and then a scientific trade association. He is a tennis player and a former high school varsity tennis coach. Born and raised in Seattle, he now lives in Sacramento with his wife, Bita (an Emmy-winning network news producer), and his young son and daughter.
Herb C. Jensen, Jr., DDS
Herb C. Jensen, Jr., DDS, has practiced dentistry in Sacramento for over 35 years. Since Dr. Jensen transitioned ownership of the practice to Dr. Matthew Ryan in 2009, the two have worked closely together to care for our patients.
Dr. Jensen earned his bachelor degree in biological sciences from the University of California, Davis (1971) and dental degree from the University of Pacific School of Dentistry (1975). His extensive clinical experience in all aspects of dentistry spans implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, root canals and partials. He takes pride in displaying a caring attitude while providing every patient with a comprehensive exam and optimal treatment plan.
A member in good standing of the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association, Dr. Jensen also has served on the Sacramento District Dental Society Peer Review for many years. In addition, he was a 12-year board member of the Children’s Recovery Home of Sacramento, including one year as board president.
Outside of our practice, Dr. Jensen is an avid golfer and an active member of the Northern California Golf Association. He has been married to Madeleine since 1970. They are the proud parents of Doug and Kristen, both graduates of the University of San Francisco School of Law.
